Automatic Curfew passes

The volunteers on the Superhero Network who are performing a task automatically gets assigned a curfew pass. This pass is created based on the location/duration of their tasks.

What is a curfew pass?

It is a certificate that allows people to travel during the lockdown in case of emergencies or unavoidable situations.

How are curfew passes obtained?

  1. Self-declaration People can write a self-declaration with their details, government ID number, unavoidable reason for travel, destination, dates of travel, etc.

  2. Affidavit approved by the local police station People who perform essential services can obtain a curfew pass by means of creating an affidavit that describes the nature of their job and why it belongs to the class of essential service.

E.g. Healthcare workers, government personnel, private citizens working with the government, etc.

Curfew passes help the local authorities to identify essential service providers as well as people dealing with emergencies.

The problem

  1. With the Superhero Network, we are creating an army of volunteers to mobilise essential resources.

  2. The members of the network need to move around only if they've been assigned a task.

  3. A blanket curfew pass like the ones received by essential personnel would not work in this case.

  4. Giving the volunteers a minimum duration curfew pass via the affidavit method would require the authorities to spend a lot of time daily to do the same.

  5. If we try to use the self declaration method, verifying that the person is part of the network and is currently on an assigned task will also be difficult.

  6. It could lead to a possible misuse of the system. People may register as volunteers, just to obtain the curfew pass.

Automatic curfew pass generation

  1. When a task has been accepted by a volunteer, he/she is sent a curfew pass automatically via an SMS.

  2. The curfew pass created includes details like:

    1. Name

    2. Phone Number

    3. Government ID

    4. Validity period

    5. District/State

    6. Travel purview - From and To locations

How does it help?

  1. Ensures that the volunteers are not authorised to travel outside the purview of the task.

  2. The Superhero Network can also red-flag instances where the curfew pass has been violated and potentially ban the volunteer from the network.
