Grocery delivery

The second phase of our fight needs an assurance for the common man that staying home and supporting the fight against corona won't come at a cost of making his/her family starve.

In the extended lockdown period there will be a nation wide shortage of supplies and also the stocks that were piled up by individuals for family at home will get exhausted.

An immediate need for a system at scale which would deliver groceries to home would arise, without it it would be extremely difficult both to make people remain at home and to stop the further community spreads.

Call centre + supermarkets + volunteers model

  1. Majority of our target audience will be using feature phone. Access to smartphones will be limited. Hence doing an internet based solution will not be practical.

  2. An onboarding for supermarkets and Government supported supply chains should be done as soon as possible which will help when the demand chain begins. Venders will be familiarised with UPI payment systems during this period.

  3. A central console will be provided for the supermarkets to enter the available items and quantity. It is important to have both essential items and other (beauty care, packed items, soft drinks etc) in our system as people need to see it as a complete alternative for shopping from a grocery store.

  4. Periodic update of the stocks will be crucial for which we will be creating import systems for existing digital stock register mechanisms commonly used in our country. (For eg: syncing via Microsoft Excel, CSV file exports)

  5. A call centre should be setup with volunteer support.

    1. People who groceries could dial into these call centre numbers and register their request.

    2. The critical part is to get the request correctly entered using a console provided, we will only be taking orders for items which we already know is available in stock

    3. The requests placed and added to a centralised database for demand assessment and fulfilment.

    4. The system would then run a fulfilment check algorithm to find the supermarket which can fulfil the highest percentage of user request. (Also, the algorithm will smartly dispense the orders to multiple venders to avoid market flooding by large/single venders)

    5. Order will be placed against the selected store after reducing the same from inventory and will be notified.

    6. Payments will be requested by the supermarket/ supply chain through UPI requests.

    7. The requests were then fulfilled by volunteers on the Superhero Network.

  6. Pricing regulations needs to be setup in order to avoid over pricing.

  7. Volunteer registration can be done through the same portal we have created for other per existing systems of phase 1.
